Few things that you can do to check for and remove any malware / viruses on your PC.

This is by no means a comprehensive guide and I make no claim to remove your virus(es). This is simply tips & tricks that I have used personally over the years which I have found to work perfectly for me.

1, Download Avira (or a suitable alternative Anti-Virus)

https://www.avira.com/en/antivirus

2, Download MalwareBytes (It used to be MB was only for malware but now they have an antivirus built in so step 1 isn't imperative but still MB specialises in Malware Detection so you will be better off using an antivirus with MB)

https://www.malwarebytes.com/mwb-download/thankyou/

3, Open the Run Menu

(Windows + R

and type

msconfig

and press Ok.

4, Inside the System Configuration window that popped up start with the Services tab.

Go through and look for anything you think looks completely out of place or suspicious. Don't worry too much about services that aren't running and place more scrutiny on ones with Unknown as their manufacturer. You can use google to check what any of these services are.

Viruses can mimic legitimate service names and sometimes even Manufacturer. You won't be able to find everything but if you find a service for say a razer keyboard and you do not and have never owned one nor plugged it into your PC then you know that service doesn't belong. Go ahead and stop the service by unticking it and applying your changes.

4b, Once you're done with the Services tab go over to the Startup tab.

Depending on your windows version you will either see results show in the same window like with Services or in newer versions it will tell you to go to Task Manager and provide a link. Click the link if that is relevant to you.

Now basically do the exact same thing as with services. This should be a much shorter list so easier to go through. As with before disable anything that you have determined or suspect to be malicious or unwanted.

4c, Next in TaskManager go to the Details tab (older versions of windows can use the Processes tab if you do not have the details tab.)

Go through again and look for any virus related processes. End the task for any that you do not trust, want or recognise.

Additionally you can right click on the process prior to ending it and click on the

Open File Location

option. From here you can delete the virus and related files manually or if you have permission denied error u can google for programs to fix that error and let you delete files.

5, Now run Avira and let it go through a full scan.

Once avira has completed you can review any detections and decide what you want to do. Restart where necessary.

5b, Now run MalwareBytes also doing a full scan and allowing it to run through to completion.

Once done review any detections and decide what you want to do. Restart again where necessary

[Advanced] OPTIONAL ADDITIONAL STEPS [Advanced]

After doing everything above assuming you have kept a note of things as you've gone along you should have some more info on your virus(es). Try googling to see if there is info on the virus(es) online. You may be able to acertain info such as Registry Keys that are added. Check

RegEdit

(run menu) to see if the paths exist and where you are confident (don't mess with these if you aren't sure what you're doing) you can delete the keys.

Download/Run CC Cleaner and go through the Custom Clean options configuring to your needs. If you're unsure the default settings will probably suffice. You should make sure

Cache, Cookies, Session, Recycle Bin, Temporary Files, Memory Dumps, Custom Files and Folders

are ticked.

And we're done! 22x22https://discordapp.com/assets/b731b88b6459090c02b8d1e31a552c5a.svg[/img] Remember to update Avira and MB as often as you can (they come out with updates daily) as a good virus will always start it's release as FUD (fully undetectable) and only after some time will the AV's detect the virus signature and release that update to everyone! Updating is crucial in keeping your PC virus free!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Quick Tip: For Virus Prevention, try running all programs you are unsure about in SandBoxie or a full fledged VirtualMachine/Environment prior to actually running the file directly on your PC and see if it's all running as it should.
