How to make $1000 a month with BIRD Scooters

Recommended Posts

Been doing this for a while so I guess I'll share with you on how to get one of those Bird Scooters for cheap. Unlike other threads, this one pretty much has a 100% success rate if you're smart about it.

1. You're gonna want to find a city near you that has Bird scooters laying around everywhere. Look around to find scooters that look like this:

https://www.google.c...iw=1920&bih=969

They are called the Xiaomi M365 and were one of the first scooter models that Bird used, so they are relatively common in most places.

2. Either find a local police impound auction and buy a Bird M365 from there or get one using "other" methods.  wink.png  cool.png Chances are you picked the second option so here's how to "SE" one with a 100% guarantee of success. First, you will need to know the ins and outs of how these scooters work. In the M365 model, there is a black box on the top that looks kinda like this:

https://www.google.c...ScND-DOiGiMiuM:

This is the unit that houses Bird's independent GPS unit was well as motherboard. It contains a SIM card and an external battery (so that the GPS still works if the scooter is dead). By removing the SIM card, the scooter will be considered "offline" and will no longer be tracked. The Bird box is connected to the scooter with 6 t6 torx screws, and can either be removed by taking out the screws or by beating the shit out of the box  cool.png (Much easier with the correct screwdriver). Amazon sells torx sets like these that are prefect for the job:

By removing the 6 torx screws, you will see a motherboard that is connected with 2 regular phillips head screws, and on the other side of the motherboard is the SIM card.

There is a detailed youtube video that shows the whole process of how to remove the box on a M365 and explains it a lot better than I could:

3. Now that you know how it works, its time to find one in the wild. Go into your city and find a scooter that is in a place that gets relatively low traffic; scout it out to see if there are any major damages to it. At dusk, Bird chargers take the scooters home to charge them, so it is very easy to blend in during that time. After you make sure that no one is watching, casually yeet that shit into a vehicle and move to safe area to disassemble it. Try not to rotate the front wheel as it will beep, and could alert Bird. Follow the video tutorial in removing the cover to the motherboard and use a flathead screwdriver to reach on the underside of the mobo and pry off the SIM card as fast as possible (reference video for SIM card location). From there remove the whole box and you are left with a bare scooter.

Tips:

- Removing the SIM card should be your absolute #1 priority when doing this

- DO NOT by any means, log in to the app and try to ride the scooter into a secluded area for taking. After the scooter goes missing for some time, Bird WILL email the last person who rode the scooter and try to make them pay a fine for the missing scooter, so DO NOT do this.

4. To get the scooter to work again, you will need to buy a Xiaomi M365 OEM motherboard that you can find on ebay/amazon/aliexpress. There are some differences in the motherboards, but you probably want one that looks like this:

Install the motherboard by plugging it into the scooter and it should be able to function like a regular OEM scooter. It should also connect to the Mi Home app that has a bunch of cool features/constant updates on it as well.

5. You'll probably need a charger for it too, so here's a link to one:

6. Enjoy your new electric scooter  biggrin.png

7 (Optional). Sell it on FB marketplace/OfferUp/Craigslist for a HUGE profit. These scooters go for $400 new, and by only spending ~$50 on it, so flipping it should be extremely easy.

Final Tips/Comments:

- Bird is getting rid of these scooters by throwing them away to make room for their new Bird Zero scooters, so they won't be around for that long.

- Sometimes you can find abandoned scooters that haven't been touched in months in some areas.

- Some motherboards are better than others: The one I listed will allow for the scooter to connect to the app, but will NOT allow for custom firmware (if you wanna go really fast). There are also some purple mobos going around that do not connect to the app, but will make the scooter run. (PM me with a link to a motherboard if you are curious about the type and I'll tell you what it can do)

Whew, that took forever to write, so make sure to show some love if you enjoyed it biggrin.png
