You should always use a VPN while downloading/seeding torrents and using peer-to-peer connections.

 

To safely and properly download torrents you WILL NEED a VPN.

If torrent websites are blocked in your country or your ISP just does not allow it,

Proxy Bypasses can also be used as an extra security measure if you are the extra careful type.

 

 

Why do I need a VPN?

Your Internet Service Provider (ISP) can see all of the websites you visit, and view all unencrypted traffic.

By default: without a VPN, your traffic is unencrypted, good VPNs use AES encryption for encrypting traffic and your packets.

Some VPNs have specific servers just for torrenting and peer-to-peer connections, which is convienient for both security and speed.

 

 

For example; your traffic is unencrypted and you decided to download a torrent. 

Your internet service provider does not like this for a few reasons, depending on who you have;

they could actually just use it as an excuse to profit off of your mistake.

They will disconnect your internet access, and send you a fine, possibly threatening lawsuit as well.

 

Generally speaking,

Internet Service Providers directly cannot sue you.

It's the company that owns the content you download that can.

Now if the ISP really cared about pirated content, they would contact the company.

Usually this is not the case, the ISP will issue you a fine and chalk it up to be more severe than it actually is.

They profit from this fine, and hold the threat of prosecution over your head for a quick buck.

 

What do I do If this happens to me?

Well, this is actually a lot simpler than you might think.

If they turned off your service, just call their customer service line.

Act like you are new to their service and have them connect your box to them,

 like you would if you had just become a subscriber to them.

As for the fine, just ignore it. Literally nothing will happen.

If by the rare chance they do put it on your bill or something,

just call and complain like a distressed customer, acting like that isn't supposed to be there at all

and that you'll switch providers if you have to pay it. 

They should wipe that shit right off. 

Just like cell providers, the industry is very competitive.

They'd rather just waive the fine than lose a customer,

which then is a loss of future company profits.

If all else fails, they have literally no

way of knowing whether it was you, or some skid that hacked your wifi

 and decided to download whatever obscenities you were downloading.

You can come up with a million and a half excuses that will work,

it is really just basic social engineering.

 

In Summary:

If you plan on downloading questionable content or anything torrented/p2p, use a VPN.

You can easily crack accounts for NordVPN or any other VPN service out there.

Just make sure the VPN supports torrenting/p2p and doesn't keep logs.
